Last month, I found out about this amazing company called Grounds & Hounds. It didn’t take much to get my attention – dogs and coffee? Oh, those are just two of my favorite things. But the more I learned about the company, the mission and the product, the more I knew I had to help spread the word. This video was the first thing I watched and it’s the perfect way to introduce anyone to the company – and it’s only 4 minutes! Take a look:
In 2012, Jordan, the founder of Grounds & Hounds, walked past a dog adoption and fell in love with a malnourished Dalmatian as soon as she crawled into his lap. You can hear him talk about it in the video above, and it’s very clear that their special bond drives this whole operation. As for the coffee aspect, I love this quote, “There is only one thing more enjoyable than a fresh-brewed cup of coffee in the morning, and that is to see a dog’s wagging tail when you roll out of bed.” But really… how true is that?! Plus, a cup of coffee tastes even better when you know that 20% of the revenue will be donated to their rescue partner closest to you. Everyone is winning here.
While I did receive coffee from the generous Grounds & Hounds, this isn’t a sponsored post – I just think they are doing something really great and I wanted to tell you guys about it. If you’ve seen me this month, I probably already have! I think it’s because I grew up with labs and I whole heartedly believe in the amazing influence that a dog can have on your life. My family brought home our sweet black lab, Bo, when I was only 12. He was a huge source of comfort as I grew up, and even when I lived out east and rarely came home, I would get an all star welcome whenever I walked through the door. Nothing feels more like home than that.
With Bo just a few weeks before he passed.
While I was in college we added Maggie, our beautiful yellow lab, to the family. She is now a registered therapy dog who brings joy everywhere she goes, visits patients at the local hospital and volunteers at the library where young children can practice reading with her. My family definitely doesn’t think “they’re just dogs.” They are a part of our family. That’s why Jordan’s mission really hits home for me. They really aren’t just dogs. They’re so much more than that. So, let’s help save some!
Maggie and my cousin Luca. How sweet?!
You can get started by purchasing Grounds & Hounds Coffee right on their website (it will also be available in stores like Whole Foods soon!). I got to try it myself, and it is delicious. Plus, it’s all carefully sourced and 100% Fair Trade and Organic certified. I’ll talk more about the Single Origin Colombian and Paper & Slippers next week because… I have a little something up my sleeve… Stay tuned!!
